Bottled Water Guide for Our Orange County Water Delivery Customers
Water is essential to life. The majority of our body weight comes from water, and our body's many mechanisms, such as temperature regulation, joint lubrication, perspiration, and more, rely on water to function properly. While most of us always have access to tap water, we still struggle to drink enough water on a daily basis to fully hydrate our bodies. Most medical professionals would agree that women should aim to drink at least 2.2 liters (or 9 cups) of water a day and men about 3 liters (or 13 cups). While this amount can seem daunting, it becomes much easier when great-tasting, high-quality water is always kept readily available, particularly where you live and work.
If you are looking to drink more water, the next question then becomes which water should you be drinking for optimal health? In the U.S., you have hundreds of bottled water brands to choose from, and new options regularly appear on the market. Among these brands are a wide variety of water options, such as spring water, purified water, mineral water, deionized water, distilled water, artesian water (also called artesian well water), and sparkling bottled water. Each of these water types is carefully regulated by the Food & Drug Administration (FDA) and classified according to how they meet the definitions provided under their "Standards of Identity." For example, a mineral water must contain at least 250 ppm total dissolved solids (TDS), and spring water must be properly filtered and treated, and then bottled right at the source. In most cases, your choice of water can be based upon your personal preferences, but you should also take the time to consider a few other factors, such as the water's source, how it is purified and/or treated, how it is bottled, and how it is regulated.
